Multiple openings for the role of “Senior Associate, Investment Systems Engineering (Appian Engineer)”, with Arrowstreet Capital, Limited Partnership (“Arrowstreet” or “ASC”), headquartered at 200 Clarendon Street, 30th Floor, Boston, MA 02116.
Telecommuting benefit (i.e., work from home) available. In information technology (“IT”) roles like these, ASC resources must be onsite, working at the above-named employer address and headquarters location, at least one day each week. Apart from this requirement, may telecommute and work remotely from home up to four days a week. Note it is currently permissible, however (due to various regulations and policies), to telecommute and work remotely from home in the following five states: Massachusetts; Rhode Island; New Hampshire; Connecticut; or Vermont. Individuals filling these roles, they therefore must live in one of those five states. This is because, again, must work at least one day per week from within and as required to be at Arrowstreet’s Boston office (address given above), with remote work from a state specified allowable the remainder of the time.
Positions are permanent, immediately available, job opportunities that do not require any travel to client or customer sites. Roles are part of a high-performing team of software engineers. Will design and build well-structured, Appian business process workflows, including for the ASC Investment Services team, all toward managing and supporting critical business workflows driving high-priority investment initiatives. Will process business requests for customized investment-centric solutions made by internal Arrowstreet teams; uses and deploys the Appian platform to provide high-availability, multi-region support with tight recovery-time objectives; performs Appian-based software development in support of broader solution implementations, to include support of tier-1 solutions and to best make delivery reliable; automates critical business processes; enables platform security; facilitates application performance tuning; provides intuitive user interfaces, with this work specifically spanning and involving REST APIs and associated REST API integrations; uses data structures and creates architecture, data and work-flow diagrams; facilitates technology integrations across multiple information systems and teams, to include performance of external system integrations; collaborates cross-functionally with ASC Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) Cloud Engineers, operating in “Shared Engineering Services”; facilitates the introduction of built and designed Appian solutions into the production environment; performs workflow testing; contributes to technical standard definition, to best-practice articulation and to internal adherence to governing technical standards applied, including the agile process and for Appian development and deployment; supports solution launch and enhancement initiatives undertaken; configures customized business workflows; writes Appian plug-ins; defines, implements and monitors Appian “health checks”; delivers and provides quality technical services; facilitates user-acceptance testing for Appian platform users; performs requirements definition and secures related clarification regarding Appian project requirements; helps with end-user training; performs technical troubleshooting; participates in group software design sessions; helps with evaluating technology alternatives; and also uses Structured Query Language (“SQL”) and relational databases to perform job functions stated.
Full-time positions requiring a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science or a related technological discipline (to include computer applications, information technology, information science, information security or assurance, information management, computational management, or management or computer information systems); engineering (to include computer, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or communication engineering, or engineering management); or related field. Also required are three years of experience, all specifically involving the following: (a) performing Appian and Java development, to include supporting tier-1 solutions; (b) integrating Appian technologies with external information systems; (c) implementing new Appian releases; (d) using SQL, to include either MySQL or SQL Server; (e) delivering and integrating REST APIs; (f) creating architecture, data and work-flow diagrams; and (g) using data structures and relational databases for software design and development.
May alternatively qualify with a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science or a related technological discipline (to include computer applications, information technology, information science, information security or assurance, information management, computational management, or management or computer information systems); engineering (to include computer, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or communication engineering, or engineering management); or related field. Where Master’s-qualified, must also show one year of experience, specifically involving the following: (a) performing Appian and Java development, to include supporting tier-1 solutions; (b) integrating Appian technologies with external information systems; (c) implementing new Appian releases; (d) using SQL, to include either MySQL or SQL Server; (e) delivering and integrating REST APIs; (f) creating architecture, data and work-flow diagrams; and (g) using data structures and relational databases for software design and development.
